It has come to my attention that a letter has already been sent home to all of you, regarding my departure at the end of this school year. I would encourage you, if you have questions regarding this situation, to come to me directly, with those questions.
Parent-teacher conferences are still (re)scheduled for this week. No one has contacted me, requesting a conference time. I would like to very much encourage you to do this, so that we can have a chance to sit together and discuss your child's progress, and perhaps how best to navigate this change. If this week is hard for you, I will still, also be available in the week that they were originally scheduled (Feb 18/19/20). (unfortunately, the weeks between this week and that week are not terribly good weeks, to find time to sit down, but if that is all that you have available, please reach out to me, and I will do my best to make something work)
This week I am still available Monday from 5:00-5:30 and 6:00-6:30, Wednesday any time from 4:30-6:30, and Thursday any time from 4:30-6:30. Please contact me via text with a time that works best for you.
Dates that you need to be aware of:
The February 15th Church performance date will likely need to be changed - I will keep you in the loop as things become more clear. With it being a potential four-day weekend, it is likely that I may need to travel that weekend, to begin my job search. So, as was originally planned, we will NOT have school on the 14th and our Valentine party will take place on the 13th, in the last hour or so of school that day.
To say it another way: The changes that I discussed possibly happening with regards to those dates, in a previous note, will NOT be taking place, we will stick to the calendar as it was published at the beginning of the year.
February 20th has been selected as our Snow Play day. The only thing that might cause a change here, is if the snowpack is not adequate at that point (Which I doubt will be the case). We will keep you informed as the date grows closer. This is a family event, so please plan to all join in if at all possible.
Music Festival has been changed from 'Feb. 20-22' to just the 21st and 22nd. Students in grades 5-7 will need to leave DVCS at about 6:45 on the morning of the 21st to arrive in time for registration, at Gem State Adventist Academy, in Caldwell. This is their school day for that day. Activities will extend into the evening, and into Saturday as well. They will spend the night there, Friday night, in the academy dorms, and the concert on Saturday afternoon will be at 3:00, at Gem State Adventist Academy. You are encouraged to attend the concert and plan to transport your own student home, after it is over. If concert attendance is not possible for you, please let me know ASAP, and we will arrange for your child to be brought back to Mountain home for you after the concert. Families of our younger students are encouraged to attend the concert too! This is a yearly event, so they can get a taste of what they will get to take part in, in the future.
Sixth-grade outdoor school is quickly approaching. This Monday, the two students who are attending (Layla and Beth) will begin to do their fund-raising to help cover their registration and travel expenses. They are selling gourmet popcorn. We encourage you to support them, with orders and possibly assistance connecting them with others you may know, who might like to order. Connecting with them after school, at dismissal time might be the best time to catch them. Thank you.
In closing, I would like to assure you that, as far as what happens in the classroom on a day-to-day basis, I would like the remainder of the year to go on as if nothing has happened regarding next year. We will focus on 'the work that lies nearest' and do our best to have a great school year THIS year, and not let our selves get caught up in worry or discussion about what next year holds. God's got this!
