Tuesday, September  3

We are off to a very good start.  The first weeks were a lot of getting used to routines activities, and getting to know each other.  Last week, we were doing some lessons, and a lot of 'pre-assessments'.  This week we are starting on our more 'regular routine' but there are still some tweeks that will need to happen, over the next few weeks, as we lead into our Iowa Testing week, the week of September 23-27 - This will also be our week of prayer, with Pastor Tomm.  Once we are past that, then we will finally be into our real routine which we will follow for the rest of the year.

There is an app you may want to purchase, called Xtra Math.  I'll be sending home a flyer for you, later this week.  This will be an excellent way for your student to spend after-school hours practicing skills that will help while they are IN school.

Please be sure you have gotten copies of your child's immunization record to me.

Also - please note that the online payment buttons are working now, if that is how you want to make your payment and I put a

short cut button on the HEADER for you, too, so you don't have to go hunting for the button!!

Calendar Items

There are some upcoming events you need to be aware of.

Sept 9 - First day of hot lunches on Monday

Sept 11 - Service Project (helping with food baskets at Grace Lutheran Church)

     Sept 23-27 - ITBS testing/Week of Prayer

     Sept 29 - Car Wash

Oct 6 - Spaghetti Feed and Dessert Auction  (more details to follow, - just put it on your calendar for now)

Bonnie Sprowl, our home and school leader, will be hosing/co-ordinating a Hot Lunch on Mondays.  This will cost $2.00 payable in cash, with the possibility of a punch card being available, so that you can pay for several meals at once (we will keep track of the student's cards for them) We will provide a menu, and we will need to know how many students will be taking part for the following week, so that we know what to prepare for.  Please watch for an announcement about the menu, later this week.

On September 11, we will be walking across the street, to Grace Lutheran, and spending a few hours helping them with thier food basket ministry.  If you have food you can donate, please send it on or before that date.  We will be doing this at least 4-5 more times throughout the year.

The Iowa Test of Basic Skills is the only standardized tests we administer in our school system.  Please plan to have you rchild in school at least Monday-Thursday of that week, so that we can complete all of the testing at once, together.  Doctor's appointments and family trips need to be moved to another week if at ALL possible.

Please plan to be here, with your student and as many members of your family as you can muster, to help wash cars, on September 29th.  We will start at 1:00 and be done by 3:00.  Tell your neighbors and friends to come by, and get their car washed, and help us out!!  We will run two shifts, from 1-2, and from 2-3.  We will also likely sell baked goods, if you can contribute to that!! It's always a fun time, and we enjoy having everyone here that can be, to take part in all of the fun!!
